Ibenyeti - located in the Dreaming - is the known as the "Kingdom of White Nights" - the place where spirits gather. It is a place that most will never see in their lifetime, yet a place that everyone has been in their dreams. Many people have depicted Ibenyeti - through art or through storytelling - and despite the different accounts, there is little doubt that they are all speaking of the same place. The similarities are especially striking between the depictions of people who have never met or interacted in any way.

It is said that Ibenyeti is the "spiritual analogue" to the Holy Kingdom of Windgrace, and it is true that the two share a special relationship. It was thanks in part to the participation of the Ibeni that the humans and other races were able to end the oppressive reign of the Harken. Afterwards a covenant was formed - a promise between Magistrate Zoroa and the steward of Ibenyeti to maintain the balance of energy between worlds.

Special representatives called "arbiters" were chosen from both sides to monitor the balance. The summoning of Ibeni, mass casualties from war, famine, or disease, population explosions, the use of Etherium Nexii, and other major shifts of energy from one realm to another changes the natural order. A special ceremony known as the "Great Balancing" is performed every year, which restores the proper concentrations. In the interim between ceremonies, the covenant is safeguarded by regular negotiations and friendly interactions between arbiters.

The covenant was threatened at the peak of the Etherium Wars, when leaders around the world decided that Ziasetht would be sealed away in the Dreaming to protect the Material Plane. The abomination became a constant reminder of the neglect of the human race and its betrayal of a once sacred covenant. Today, many vengeful spirits have found their own way to manifest in flesh and blood, and enact retribution against the inhabitants of the Material Plane. These few are known as monsters.
