After the rise of human civilization, the relationship between the inhabitants of the Material Plane and the Ibeni took many new forms. Most present-day Ibeni peacefully exist under the covenant between Ibenyeti and Windgrace. Amongst these are the "familiars", those beings that trained magic-users can summon to aid or protect them.

Meanwhile, others have retained the stories of the human transgressions, which only became more present after the decision to seal Ziasetht in the Dreaming. Out of this group have emerged those Ibeni who have earned the designation of "monster", as they scour the world seeking vengeance. The steward of Ibenyeti tries to control these wilder tempers, but as the world becomes increasingly divided by conflicting political ideologies and economic crises, more of these "monsters" look to exploit the situation and render their retribution against the living.
