Four years after the Black Atom Disaster - during which the once-hero and legendary Knight Nazarus betrayed his students and abandoned the Academy, his presence is still felt; students and staff alike know that it is only a matter of time before he appears again, and the truth of his sinister ambitions comes to the surface...

The story begins as the Knights embark on a series of missions throughout the Laconian Federation. ORCHA has become more active in recent weeks, and because of fears that the group may have sleepers in the military, the government puts in a call to the Academy. But the opportunity to capture the terrorists' elusive commander is lost after interference from an old acquaintance...

Attacks by "mutant creatures" in a local port city has led to several casualties and extensive property damage. After the liquidation of the Domestic Security Forces, in order to funnel more money into the Military, regular citizens are forced to turn to private security companies. But when the hired mercenaries suddenly turn their guns on the people they were supposed to protect, a bad situation soon becomes a catastrophe...

As the common thread connecting these events is revealed, the Knights must work to uncover the suspicious agenda of a global corporation, fend off numerous threats from monsters and rebel factions, and contend with a mysterious religious sect whose objectives may trace back to the fall of an ancient civilization. The Knights will participate in many missions, face countless obstacles, and whether or not they prevail could change the course of history...

But this is also Nazarus's story, and of  those who have risen to support his cause. For them he is not a villain, but a visionary, one who sees beyond the immediate conflicts to an underlying truth. For ultimate justice, he may be willing to sacrifice everything, even the lives of millions...
